TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE DYNAMIC POWER SYSTEMThe Dynamic Power System has several advanced features that make it unique in the photovoltaic market.
PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTERDPS can operate as an independent photovoltaic and battery power inverter providing power to the on-grid or off-grid power systems. In addition, it also operates parallel with diesel or gas generators thereby decreasing fuel consumption and emissions.
ACTIVE HARMONIC FILTERThe Dynamic Power System minimises harmonic currents by actively measuring and supplying opposite currents. As a result, the current waveform from the generator is sinusoidal. This decreases the generator losses and overheating that is typically caused by harmonics. The generator efficiency improves and the lifetime is extended.
DYNAMIC REACTIVE POWER COMPENSATIONReactive power causes unnecessary heating in the generator and it limits the active power that the generator can supply. The Dynamic Power System compensates the reactive power in a real time. It also responds to short-term active or reactive high power needs. As a result of dynamic reactive power compensation, the generator can supply the active power with optimal efficiency.
UPS OPERATIONIn case of power interruption in the grid connected system, the DPS supported load will be immediately disconnected from the grid by an ultra-high speed switch. DPS will provide power to the load using its own energy storage. The switch from the grid supply to the DPS supply and vice versa is smooth and undetectable for consumers or critical loads.
ENERGY STORAGEEnergy Storage is part of the UPS operation, but it also makes use of solar panels more efficiently. The available excess of solar energy is stored in the Energy Storage. Generators are used only if there’s no solar energy available or the Energy Storage is getting empty.
The energy storage balances the differences between alternating power supply and demand. In the daytime, the needed power can be taken from the photovoltaics and energy storage even if there are cloudy times during the day. That allows us to turn off the generators for the daytime. In some cases it is possible to build systems that are totally independent from other power sources in the night-time, as well.
DYNAMIC POWER BOOST
Traditional photovoltaic systems lack the ability to provide high power for the short term that is needed when switching on motors, compressors etc. rotating machines.
